Title Sequence Analysis - The Stepfather

During this lesson, we had to analyse a thriller to see if the title sequence followed the typical conventions of a film opening. The film we were given was The Stepfather. This film follow all of the normal conventions, such as showing the setting and introducing the audience to the protagonist. By watching this, we have learned that not much action happens in film openings as they are mainly used to get into the story line. They are also largely used to give credit to those that helped to make the the film. This includes the producion/distribution companies, the main actors, title, music supervisors, directors etc. These credits usually go in order of importance, from the most important, to the least, and then back to very important, like a circle.
